<< Didn't TDFX miss earnings by $0.16 or so ? Didn't NVDA beat earnings by $.02 or so and go down ? What am I missing ? >>

I'll save you some wading through the myriad posts here. The estimates of about 0.01 for 1Q99 were based on 3dfx as single company (without factoring in the effect of acquiring STB) and on the old fiscal year (quarter ended 3/99). The latest estimates (there were two) had the combined company coming in at (0.09) for the revised FY (quarter ended 4/99).

After you combine the TDFX and STBI numbers, (Pat Grinsell took a swipe at this) you come up with roughly (0.09) EPS. The "official" company-released pro forma results should be issued within the next week or so.

The forecast for the combined company continues to look good, which has generated very obvious institutional interest.

As far as NVDA is concerned, also consider this: as of yesterday's close, P/E for TDFX was 15. The equivalent number for NVDA was over 128. This implies NVDA is overvalued and TDFX is undervalued. NVDA has to meet a higher standard to appreciate in value.

I got a Voodoo book from the library. It had an incantation for transferring a pattern from one place to another. The cruel spell which once worked us to desperation with its fury has now been cast upon a new clan.
