The fees have not come down because the competition is weak at this point in the face of growing demand. There is no need for VISX or BEAM to drop the royalty currently. The patent position is still strong for these two companies, and remember: 1. the competitors must get through FED approval 2. they must demonstrate an equal or superior technology 3. they must set up markets against an established base That may be a hard road to travel. I suggest that if they become a real concern, they will be bought out by the big players.
