I agree on all counts. The main advantage to this merger -- from IDT's viewpoint -- is that it didn't have to spend up to a year on the financial and legal implications of an IPO, thereby delaying product introduction (if not its development). In this market, where the window to create a dominating force is probably only a year or two, that is a major risk to take. In that time period, some unknown big company, or IDX, could have made some major inroads. Instead, it looks like IDX/IDT is emerging as the only choice for bio-ID. I also think that Pieper and Fowler just wanted to work together.
