Hi Charles,

I posted the a\exact same thing yesterday. 5-17 and 5-20
have nothing to do with getting the TIPS div. Buy before ex date
get the div, buy after ex date do not get div. I agree, if TAP or the
NR has stated the facts in this simple form, there wouldn't be
all this confusion.

Charles--All along the may 20 date was merely to determine the date from which future trades would trade with the dividend. If you owned the stock on May 20 and sold it AFTER May 20 but BEFORE the ex dividend date, the TIPS dividend would tag along with trade. You are right, the ex dividend and not the record date is the relevant date.

Stock declines occur after the dividend is distributed, not on the record date(unless they are the same).
