I got a response from Spectrum's Investor Relations today (Karen) and I can see why so many are charmed by her. She seems very responsive and polite. Anyway, She said that the Detroit Board is listed at $4900. This reinforces my contention that Spectrum is in a narrow niche market of selling pretty expensive products to OEMs who would love to cut them out of the action if they could. Also, my guess is that rather than buy Spectrum whole, most OEM's who need to develop a line of new DSP Products might just hire the half a dozen key people from Spectrum and not bother with the rest of the Company. The idea of spreading their DSP technical expertise over a broader product line (and market area) may be a goood strategy for the long term, but it is hard to see any results developing within a year or two. In the meantime, the management and engineering effort required to impliment a doubling of the technical staff could put a strain on their current staff and their current operations. So the outlook for the short term is maybe flat with the possibility of a pick up a year or two out.
