ed a.: again, I don't disagree. IMO that's why I strongly believe that some acquisitions are in the offing and that MD will have a lot to say when they begin to happen. Remember, MD has always been gunning for Big Blue and you can be very sure he knows about as much about them as one can know. Again, I see this period as a transition and that transition needs to be managed with a sure steady hand. So far I haven't seen anything to shake my confidence in Dell's management, which is why I am invested in the co. I agree with the many folks on this thread who have said that Dell now needs to grow into its valuation as a more mature company. If that means that the stock moves in a narrow range for the next 2-3 Q's that's acceptable to me. Besides, holding for more than a year has the added benefit of slashing your tax bill in 1/2!<gg> Aloha

Please explain why you think Dell is 'in the same class as IBM'... When I compare the two, it seems to me that Dell is missing the R & D, software, high end hardware, middleware, and components pieces that IBM has, in addition to a rather large service and consulting operation. I think there is also around a 65 billion difference in revenues between them

Do the estimates of .98 cents earnings next year take into account that PC prices are going down every month? Does anyone one on this thread think that DELL could go down like WDC or some of the other disk drive manf. ? With EPS estimates at .78 cents this year and .98 cents next, DELL is suppose to have about 25 % EPS growth.
25 times .98 equals 24 1/2. So DELL's fair value based on next years earnings is 25 dollars? Maybe if they start losing money and start a few more internet sites they will become a true internet play and the stock can go higher? :)
