Market Top of Mind at Networking's Definitive Event

FOSTER CITY, Calif., May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Ziff Davis' (NYSE: ZD)
NetWorld+Interop 99 Las Vegas came to a close Friday, impacting the
market with major product announcements, company mergers and industry
forecasts. NetWorld+Interop was held May 10-14, 1999 at the Las Vegas
Convention Center.

Tens of thousands of networking, Internet and telecommunication
professionals visited hundreds of exhibitors on the floor to see latest
enterprise and service provider solutions. According to an onsite study
conducted by independent research firm, Market Perspectives, the
audience was comprised of primarily of managers and executives (63%)
from a wide variety of organizations that will spend an average of
$21.4 million per company on networking, Internet and
telecommunications hardware, software and services over the next 12
months.

Jud Spencer, vice president, marketing and communications for Frontier

More than 400 new product and product enhancement and corporate
announcements were made at NetWorld+Interop 99 Las Vegas. Some press
conference highlights included the following:

* ASP Industry Consortium -- Twenty-five leading technology companies
announced the formation of an international advocacy group dedicated to
promoting greater understanding of and guidelines for the fast-emerging
application service provider industry.
* AT&T announced its Integrated Network Connection (INC), which simplifies
network management and allows businesses to dynamically allocate
bandwidth. INC combines voice, Frame Relay, ATM, private line and IP
traffic.
* 3Com announced its Megahertz 10/100LAN + 56K Modem CardBus PC Card,
which provides true 100 Mbps LAN connections and global V.90 modem
technology.
* Data Fellows announced its F-Secure Workstation Suite which integrates
five major elements of corporate data security into one package
* Procom introduced seven new product lines including its DataFORCE and
NetFORCE series and announced a strategic OEM licensing agreement with
VERITAS software.

Keynotes & Conferences Highlight Latest Technology Developments:
Trends were outlined and predictions were made during keynote
addresses delivered by Chairman/CEOs, and CTOs from Ascend, Cisco,
Computer Associates, Dell, Novell, and Sprint. Virtual Private Networks
(VPNs) were a main focal point, and the first VPN Day was a sold-out
hit. Convergence issues also drew a dynamic audience into
NetWorld+Interop as public network and telecom professionals filled the
CommUnity, Executive Interop and General Conference sessions last week.
Voice over IP (VoIP), VPNs, and Quality of Service (QoS) were in the
spotlight of discussion during conference sessions.

The New InteropNet Makes Its Debut:
The InteropNet Event Network and the InteropNet Labs also led the
educational value of NetWorld+Interop. More than 900 attendees took
advantage of the new hands-on education offered through the InteropNet
Labs. Engineers from Nortel Networks and Cisco Systems worked together
to write new code on a daily basis in the MPLS area of the InteropNet
Labs, and cosponsors of the InteropNet Event Network found the
experience to be valuable and rewarding. Bill Shaw, CEO of Shomiti
