rudedog,
Hi!!!

RE: IBM has benefited not from being seen as an internet stock, but from successfully positioning itself as the backbone for such companies. DELL has not successfully translated its own internet savvy into a benefit for itself with either customers or the industry. They could probably do that but I have seen no evidence to date that they have gone after more than "halo effect" from their web sales, which makes them more a consumer of e-business technology than a supplier.

I believe DELL is working on this perception becoming a further reality...although I believe DELL is an internet company...why not call them part internet?...afterall, I believe the rapid rise in sales onto the internet has warranted this...What I did find interesting was the one possible "excite filled" phrase during the conference call..it came from a question posed by Mike Kwanitez and Michael answered it...the enthusiasm of Michael sounded like the old Michael....The content had to do with the Gigabuys being hooked to the 19,000 premier pages.....I have received info that ecommerce is one of the main targets of DELL this year...the word that has been reinforced to me is LOYAL....LOYAL customers...and, I would imagine that is what everyone who invests in an internet company is looking for...

Best, Kemble
