Let me say first that I do not believe that higher end DM products will disappear just because Lotus or MSFT are around. Altris is able to offer the flexability and immediacy that will otherwise become harder, and harder to come by with OTEX, DOCS/HUMC, & the Lotus's of the world. Personally, I want the product vendor to be just that. A vendor. Building great software. Supporting it well. Innovating. As a systems integrator (biased, yes) I expect to provide the flexibility and immediacy to the client base. I also expect that good integrators bring more than just technology and project management experience to the table, they generally also bring business domain experience specific to their target market(s). I think vendors either have to be in the generalist camp or the specialist camp. It is very hard for a product company to also be an effective integrator unless they design themselves to be that way.
