Retail-people on these boards buying QWST at 1000-2000 shares a pop.
I doubt that institutions buy 1000 shares at a time. Institutions more likely buy $1,000,000 or more at a crack.

Jason,

I don't have all the tools I need here to see time and sales, however, this may be very skewed (statistically, averages usually are..)

As best I can see now, it looks like there was a massive amount of stock traded around 10:00 AM of almost 600K shares in a 5 or 10 minute window. I can't see more granularly than that right now. Looks like it moved the stock down, but then it worked back up.

What I was saying is that 895 as a average is derived from 600K plus all the other mostly smaller trades. The better statistical measure is the modal trade value. No one gives that value, to my knowledge.

I wanted to mention that the average is not representative this time, and if 2 standard deviation could be determined, you'd see that it wasn't representative of the trade population.
