Lear More about shorting Part II.. if a company is under valued the shorts get killed, its not an easy business despite the rumors and headlines.. otherwise everyone would be doing it..

"He regularly encounters
CEOs who are furious that anyone would consider
their companies overpriced. He has also been
physically ejected from meetings by angry
company management. "You've got to have a
pretty thick skin," he says. "When people don't
want us there, that's usually a sign that
something's wrong. We look for the frauds, the
fads, and the failures."

A sometimes wrecking crew against Short Sellers.. but the knife cuts both ways. Be careful siding with a quick runup, it may be a wolf in bull clothing..

"..Vinik, Krosinsky adds, has a penchant to ''squeeze''
short-sellers by buying up a large portion of the outstanding float, something he
would have had a hard time doing at Magellan, where he was dealing mostly in
large-cap stocks. ''Frequently, all this happens very quickly, and a stock shoots
up,'' says Krosinsky. That allows Vinik to cash out, often rapidly deflating the
stock."
