Hi Starowl,
You'll like this stock, it's got a chart similar to ADPT <g>. In fact these stocks are partly responsible for my present investment style. Which is: Research and buy a stock; watch it tank; buy on the way down; sell on the way up; viola! With ADPT I first bought in at 21 so I'm in the money with my original shares whereas in ATML my initial buy was at 26 so I have a ways to go. When ATML hits 26 I'll sell my last buy (~14) and just have my original shares.

ATML's last earnings report wasn't as good as ADPT's but they are lining up their ducks nicely from what I can tell. I'm excited about their prospects with their smart cards and SiGe (for the longer term).

Welcome aboard
JF

The total volume yesterday, though it picked up at the end, was still very light. For Atmel to make a significant statement, volume needs to be above 4 million shares. I don't know why that's the magic number; historically, it has been. I've been watching and working this stock for a few years, even before I joined this chat group.

Each of the last few times it hit such volume it moved up a notch (to the 15 range, to the 17-18 range, to the low 20 range, including a new recovery high of 23 1/4). I think we're in a mid- to long-term upward move, but right now it's futzing around and will need something fundamental to break out. 2Q earnings are still two months away, and I don't believe it'll stay in the current range that long. But current volume is light, and people seem to be moving in and out short term. I'm still looking for 30 by 2Q report, and 40 sometime this year. If earnings improve as I believe they will (though I was disappointed with 1Q report), I see 80 or higher next year. How's that for a limb? bwdik. Cheers/t
