AMD would not have traded up big today if a deal to buy Cyrix were in the works.

Well, we need to know the price first before judging.

If the price is trading product rights and sharing foundry and some equity dilution then it's a win/win deal. If AMD pops a cheque for $500M(from the vantis deal say) for the fab and cyrix then I agree it would be a disaster.

I think AMD certainly could use another wafer fab that could build 0.18 micron.

Aggree. I will sell my AMD if they buy Cyrix. AMD needs a laser-like focus on what they are doing now.
