James, I will tell you what I bought in 1982, the tail end of the 70's recessionary inflation period. THe long 30 year TReasury bond which paid 14% ; I got it when the yeild was 14.92%. I intened to buy and hold, which I surely should have.
Unfortunately, I got into the interest rate futures game, and lost 50 grand and learned to never predict the future.
Then the Fed eased from 14 to 10.38%. I missed the early part of the bull market, not believing it was happening.
So you see I didnt chase after Kruggerands but bought a risk free secureity which paid me 14% a year.
I should have quit while I was ahead.
