VECT = Vector Securities This is a print from March 99. In other words when a filing is made for purchases or sales the brokers used are identified by the date of the transaction at the end of the filing. The theory is each institutional purchaser has a slightly different set of "prints". Prints can change over time, so I keep looking at the most recent prints. I believe I see some of the same prints when I look at the dealers involved in last months XOMA transactions. But I believe a lot of other things too. For example that one sees what one wants' to see. That I am not often confused by the facts. And once while on a computer help line, when I was asked, "Whats' that in the background?", I thought the guy was asking about the noise being made by the pump in my aquarium. He just meant my screen saver. What else does one "learn"?? Take this finger print ridge of just one day. 03/25/99 BVF Partners (5,000) $6.0625 Sale HMQT - --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 03/25/99 BVF Partners 130,000 $6.1250 Purchase JEFF - --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 03/25/99 ILL10 Partners 10,000 $6.1250 Purchase JEFF - --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 03/25/99 BVF Ltd. Look at other ridges. Gee instituions mess with even a thousand shares. Gee sales seem to be made using one specific broker while purchases are made elsewhere.
