MSFT takes a major stake in Healtheon
Internet portal Healtheon approves WebMD merger

LOS ANGELES, May 19 (Reuters) - Internet health services
firm Healtheon Corp. plans to merge with WebMD Inc. in
a bid to consolidate the online management of health care data,
a Healtheon board member told Reuters on Wednesday.
Healtheon's board approved the deal on Monday and WebMD's
directors were slated to vote on the plan early Wednesday.
"Both managements have been engaged in the negotiating
process. We expect them to approve the terms," said Dick
Kramlich, a director at Healtheon and general partner at New
Enterprise Ventures.
The deal is structured as a 50-50 merger and should
conclude in about four months, he noted.
In addition, software giant Microsoft will take a
major stake in the new company, Kramlich said.
There will also be a group of strategic partners including
pharmaceutical supply company McKesson HBOC Inc. , chip
maker Intel Corp. , and Internet portal company Excite
Inc. , the board member said.

<Sigh> - yes, it seems so. I really wish this thing would conclude as soon as possible.

OT-OT-OT

I frequently think about CMGI vs SFE - I'm in both, but I really like SFE. Not only does it seem to represent "value" if it's not too absurd to speak in such terms when it comes to stocks like SFE and CMGI, but I like what I see of SFE management. They seem smart, seasoned, and 'conservative' in the right way. Somehow I trust them. BTW, if this is not too personal question, Teflon, are you going to the SFE conference?
