Tom,
How about shorting Mall now,on the 25th of May cover it much lower. It looks like it's being valued around $5 post split. Being short 1000 Mall now is going to put you short roughly -700 shares of UBID. Shouldn't UBID sell off on the actual distribution date, when people actually receive the shares, so you could cover it then? This is assuming that enough people flips UBID which should happen, also there won't be a lot of short covering on UBID since I would imagine a lot of the UBID shorts have longed MALL to lock in profit, thus todays rise in MALL.

you won't get UBID shares if you buy after the 24th. On the 25th, MALL will open lower by approximately 0.7*UBID of the 24th. Works just like a split.

Tom, For a split you can buy right up to the distribution date and still get the shares. I think you can still buy MALL between May 24th and June 7th and get the UBID shares - the clearing firms should take care of it.

Regards.
