. The short answer is
"Yes", a cow's life is less important to me.

I have to agree with this sentiment. There are food animals and there are free animals. I'm a fisherman and there are food fish and sport fish. Food fish are bred and released and managed to be caught and eaten by man. Sport fish are managed to be caught and released to survive as best it can, possibly to be caught again.

This Whale harvest was done for neither food nor Sport but for Ritual. Sure they are eating it but that is a cover/excuse, to try to justify the ritual. All cultures grow up/out from their roots, usually because of education and the realization that the old beliefs were just plain wrong or have little relevance in today's society.

The Whaling industry in the 18th&19th century's was a huge part of New England culture. Should all of those folks jump in their Boston Whalers and go kill a whale just because their Great Grandfather's did? I don't think so.

Just my opinion.
