I'd be happy to take this to the Kosovo thread for lengthly reply, but quickly, let me give you some brief facts to think about.... Were you aware that the KLA (whom our administration now supports) was until only recently listed in international communities, including the US as a Terrorist Organization? Are you aware of the background of the Serb-Kosovar Albanian issues or the atrocities that gave rise to Serbian intervention in THEIR own province of Kosovo in the first place? Did you know that Kosovo was the historical & much revered CAPITAL of Christian Serbia? (Revered to the Serbs as much if not more then Washington DC is to the US).. Did you know that the Muslim Albanian majority - a population swelled in recent decades by militant Albanian refugees, and the KLA Terrorists had been making life miserable for the indigenous Serbian Christian population within Kosovo? Did you know that the Albanian Kosovars had forbidden the Serbian language to be spoken or taught in the public schools in Kosovo?? (Kosovo- a state of Serbia no less- its citizens forbidden to speak their own language on pain of terrorism from the KLA!). Did you know that the KLA terrorists had been murdering & destroying the homes of Serbian citizens in Kosovo to try to drive them out of Kosovo in order to try to break away from Serbia? What if this had been the US? If we had been invaded years ago & had managed to drive the invaders out of most of the US, but they still held Washington DC-- what if the foreigners in DC beat or terrorized Americans who spoke English in DC schools? What if they refused to allow our children to learn English & forced them to be subserviant to the the invader? What if they killed, burned the homes, took away civil liberties of Americans within DC to force them out? Would we stand by- or would we say, hey! Wait! Washington DC is part of America, not only that, it was OUR capital! Who is the aggressor? Remember-- this is only a very brief overview of historical facts- and no, I am not a liberal, a radical, a communist or any other anti Nato, or Anti anything individual.... the above facts are non biased & come from the US Dept of Defense Center for Strategic Research & Planning... and Yes, there is much much more... and Most US Armed Forces leadership do NOT support either the administrations position on Kosovo OR the extremely poor strategy employed by the Clinton administration in the way Mr Clinton's little intervention was initiated- but then, the Pentagon was not allowed to provide the input or planning- This administration didn't want the input of experience... hence there was no provisions for the swell of refugees... hence the idiocy of pre-announcing limitations such as "no ground troops" ...etc etc.... I'll stop now because this could easily grow long, and this is not the place to discuss it...
