Ten,

And I'm still trying to find a good reason for me to use Linux.

I was thinking about writing an ASCII based EDA tool. Does Linux have low cost compilers available?

Tenchusatsu, re: "I have Red Hat Linux installed on my home PC ... I don't really feel all that motivated to dink around with it."

Several years ago Verne Estes .. founder of the Estes model rocket company ... noted that his typical customer bought a total of six model rockets over time but assembled none of them. They sat in closets and garages but not a drop of glue was ever applied. Despite sales of more than 30M units, the best that model rocketry has to offer is frequently referred to as "psssst .. pop ... thud".

IMHO, Linux and model rockets have a lot in common.
