Thread, more hand-helds are coming...

Mobile hand-helds for a health portal:

Amy J

From Red Herring:
May 15, 1999

This week, ePhysician launched its mobile technology, which lets doctors gather information and order prescriptions using the Internet and a personal digital assistant (PDA). In an attempt to quickly develop a customer base, the startup is giving away 10,000 handheld computers to selected clinicians. Benchmark Capital has nurtured health care startup ePhysician through launch.

The current system of writing prescriptions with pen and paper leads to inaccuracies and inefficiencies responsible for 1.3 million Americans experiencing "adverse drug events" each year.

The entrepreneur says other electronic prescribing solutions, such as entry straight into the PC, are expensive, complex, and less convenient than a mobile solution. Of three billion prescriptions filled each year in the U.S., only one percent are currently ordered electronically.

Ten,

Given that there are many, many people out there hoping that the K7 will outperform the Pentium III by a wide margin

For some benchmarks, K7 probably will outperform PIII by a wide margin. But we will know soon enough.
