6 million e-commerce victims
But most consumers like online shopping

WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Credit card fraud has victimized 6 million online shoppers so far, according to a consumer survey released Wednesday.

Grant noted that NCL's Internet Fraud Watch project has seen reported scams rise 600 percent.

Although the figure represents only 7 percent of online consumers, it nevertheless raises "a big yellow flag," given that e-commerce activity has reached significant levels in only the last two to three years, said National Consumer League President Linda Golodner in a news conference.

The survey found most Americans view technology and the Internet as a positive force and expect e-commerce to gain ground in coming years. Worries remain, however, over online privacy
