Timothy. ...if there is little demand there, they will let the program die....Wouldn't this kind of approach serve G* well also?

Frankly Timothy, letting the programme die does not sound particularly entertaining to this shareholder. Nor does idle curiosity as to whether a high price will, yawn, tempt a few customers to dabble with a few handsets. I don't have the patience and Globalstar can't afford to mess around with $$$billions rotting in the sky.

We need marketing mayhem and we need it fast! It's much easier and more profitable to slow demand down by raising prices than it is to get it moving by lowering prices. It costs Globalstar absolutely zero to give away a billion minutes. We will have 10 billion or so rotting by the end of the year. A billion freebies won't matter a damn. But it will sure create a mad frenzy to get in on the lolly scramble. If the handset production can't keep pace, then prices can be raised, for both the handsets and minutes.

Once people have suffered sticker shock, they take a while to check it out again. The reputation is then established - too expensive, too clunky, don't bug me! Sure, that could be turned around over a period of time with some advertising, but it's better to use free advertising as media report the excitement than to buy advertising. Iridium blew hundreds of millions on useless advertising. Now their prospective customers will yawn when they see efforts to turn the mess around.

Are the customers there? Yes, there are billions of them. The question is at what price. We don't want to take years to fill the system. Can a timely constellation be installed? Yes, that's nearly done. Another 6 months and it will be done. I'm offering double your money back guarantees on each launch!!!
