Well, JBL, my answer to your question is almost entirely copied in your post:

#1 BUT, I also have difficulty believing that such a stupid mistake could have been made in the first place... So, I guess I would like to hear more about the sequence of events that led to this bombing.

#2 [I] was absolutely floored the other day when I heard that General Clark wanted to bomb Russian ships delivering oil to Yugoslavia.

#3 Today, I find out that the Swedish Embassy has also been damaged...and that a hospital has been hit, and I'm just shaking my head.

So, all in all, what's the common thread linking all these incidents? Quite simple: they're all little steps that take us farther and farther away from a UN-negotiated settlement. Bombing a UNSC member's embassy, threatening to send down the merchant navy fleet of yet another UNSC member, and finally, loosing off a not-so-smart bomb in the backyard of the Swedish embassy --one of the few remaining embassies that can still provide the belligerents with a fair diplomatic brokerage! Tell me I see conspiracies everywhere but if the US were to corner NATO in a ''ground option'', they wouldn't proceed otherwise.

JBL,

Could be that an invasion is going down soon.
There are 28,000 US, British, and UN troops
in Albania and Macedonia. Yesterday, I saw
8 US Marine troops transports doing manuvers
off the coast. The denials by NATO officials
are probably a late attempt to conceal their
plans. However, I will not fully believe that
there is going to be an invasion unless I see
the M-1 Abrams tanks being moved into place.
They won't move those babies unless they plan
on using them. The ground invasion could work.
I don't see this air war accomplishing anything
other than massive collateral damage at this
point.

Team Bubba, Albright and Berger are stuck in
quicksand now...the harder you struggle to get
out, the more you sink!
