Amazon.com Files $2 Billion Mixed Securities Shelf

WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- Internet retailing pioneer Amazon.com Inc. Wednesday filed a shelf registration for $2 billion of debt and equity securities.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company said it may offer, from time to time, common shares, preferred shares, depositary shares, debt securities, warrants to purchase common shares, warrants to purchase preferred shares, sock purchase units, stock purchase contracts, third-party warrants, warrants to purchase debt securities, foreign currency exchange warrants, stock index warrants and other warrants.

Proceeds from any sale of securities will be used for general purposes.

No underwriters were named in filing.
