JLA, you are being frivolous. Of course we take consequences into account when weighing the propriety of behavior, and in that sense the "ends justify the means", so long as the means are proportional. "Thou shalt not kill" sounds pretty absolute, but we make exceptions for self- defense and defense of national territory...
