Kevin,

If we're all agreeing that the marginal cost of a Celeron is likely to be between $20 and $30

The Intellabees have successfully diverted this discussion into legalism and semantics. The point I have been trying to make is that Intel can not survive in it's current form selling CPUs for $80. The overhead of the company is much too high.

Kevin - Re: "If we're all agreeing that the marginal cost of a Celeron is likely to be between $20 and $30, do you REALLY think the marginal cost of a K6-2 is $52 to $76? "

I don't know what the marginal cost is, frankly.

I do know that AMD's die yields are in the neighborhood of only 34% for the K6-2 line.

What I ALSO KNOW is that AMD posted a LOSS of $128 Million last quarter and that their CHEAPU selling prices are plummeting THIS QUARTER.

This all points to another "healthy" loss for AMD - and loss of market share.
