LGS Group Information Technology Security Lab First in
Canada to Win Federal Government Seal of Approval

MAY 25, 1999
MONTREAL, QUEBEC--LGS Group Inc. (LGSA at NASDAQ) is pleased to
announce that the Information Technology Security Laboratory of
its business unit Ecommerce+ has become the first of its kind to
receive accreditation from the federal government's Standards
Council of Canada.
"This accreditation is a major step not just for Ecommerce+, but
for the whole electronic commerce sector in Canada," said Raymond
Lafontaine, President of LGS Group. "Every piece of research we
have seen on the issue shows that concerns about security are
slowing the adoption of electronic commerce. The business world
needs to know that it is possible to apply stringent security
standards to electronic commerce, and that the government of
Canada recognizes that our unit Ecommerce+ knows how to confirm
that such standards are implemented correctly."
Through its service offerings, Ecommerce+ has broadened the
definition of electronic commerce to include all of an
organization's interactions with its customers, partners and
suppliers. It does that by integrating the Web-based and security
elements of electronic commerce with real-time human interaction.
"This accreditation reinforces the credibility of our strategy,"
said Brian Cott, Vice President and General Manager of the
Ecommerce+ business unit.
Before accrediting the Ecommerce+ IT Security Lab (formerly known
as the DOMUS IT Security Lab), the Standards Council of Canada
rigorously evaluated the Ottawa lab to determine that it has the
expertise and quality processes in place to properly test IT
security products. The SCC is a federal Crown Corporation
mandated to promote efficient and effective standardization. Its
accreditation process relies on internationally accepted standards.
"It's very difficult for organizations that do business online to
make decisions on the security quality of products, which is why
the government of Canada initiated this program to accredit
laboratories to evaluate products to various security standards,"
said Dan Morrison, Senior Director of the Ecommerce+ security
practice. "It's not enough for vendors to say 'Our product is
secure enough.' You need a benchmark and you need to conduct
security evaluations against various standards."
The Ecommerce+ Security Laboratory has tested and evaluated a wide
range of information security products, including software
applications, firewalls, virtual private networks (VPNs), secure
wireless, biometrics devices, and smart cards. It has tested
products of vendors such as Entrust Technologies Limited,
Chrysalis-ITS, nCipher Corp., Cylink Corp. and Motorola.
A business unit of LGS Group Inc., Ecommerce+ provides secure
Internet and telephony solutions that help organizations better
manage their interactions with clients, suppliers and partners.
It brings together world-class expertise in applied telephony,
electronic security and internet.
LGS Group Inc. (LGSA at NASDAQ, LGS.A at ME) is one of Canada's

$200 million, LGS employs more than 2,200 professionals in 20
