Ah, a Newt fan there. Funny thing with that '94 "revolution", there's a few people with self imposed term limits coming up from that class, who aren't much interested in fulfilling that part of the "contract".

The country club Republicans are, of course, the core constituency of the party. Personally, I'd be more than happy to see the moral reformationists take them on. That would be entertainment. More likely, Junior aka W will sail through, unless someone manages to flush him out of the Austin equivalent of the Rose Garden.

Michael, no responsible politician will let his constituency down by the failure to make his best case or strike the best deal, including Reagan...Newt had to hold together a Congressional caucus that had a fairly narrow majority that depended on the cooperation of Gypsy Moth Republicans from the East, and that was pulled in more than one direction by various conservative factions (for example, libertarians vs. social conservatives). He did okay, and was too harshly attacked by his "friends", let alone his enemies...
