TANDBERG Television has been actively involved in the development and marketing of professional TV broadcast solutions since 1984. The company was a pioneer and leading supplier of equipment based on the MAC/packet broadcasting systems. Elettronica Industriale of Italy has selected TANDBERG decoders to feed Mediaset terrestrial transmitters via satellite as well as Telecom links. BBC World Services selected TANDBERG's decoders for use in European cable networks. Several suppliers are also offering TANDBERG's professional decoders under their own brand names. In addition to offering complete systems for up-links and solutions for feed to secondary analogue distribution networks (cable, MMDS and terrestrial), TANDBERG offers innovative solutions for cost-effective modification of the signal before digital re-distribution in cable, MMDS and terrestrial networks. These products have been developed in close co-operation with major operators. The product range includes a/o Transmodulation into QAM, Transport Stream Descrambling, Trans-scrambling, PSI/SI-modification and re-generation, change of ECM (with the same CW), replacement of EMM and complete ReMultiplexing of streams including filtering of programmes not to be redistributed. TANDBERG also offers software systems for EIT handling, multiple NIT transmission and complete management (configuration and control) of MPEG-2 up-link and play-out facilities. TANDBERG's offers include a range of Telecom Network Adapters (PDH, SDH and ATM) and Interface Converters. TANDBERG Television has proven experience with Conditional Access systems. Knowledge from interfacing all the Conditional Access systems that have been used with MAC/packet, including the very first implementation of simulcrypt, has been the basis for implementing Conax, Irdeto, Mediaguard, Nagravision, NDS (BskyB) and Viaccess Conditional Access systems for MPEG-2/DVB products.
