Isn't it reasonable to expect that funds would HAVE to sell some of their holdings in a company after that company splits 2 for 1? How else would they maintain balance in their portfolios?

A split doesn't change the size of a fund's holdings, just the number of shares. If the fund had 5% of their assets in BRKA and it split 100:1 they'd still have 5% of their assets in BRKA. How has this unbalanced their portfolio?
