Post E3 effect should result in publishers and developers announcing a lot of deals. Hope THQ can snag some good ones.

Sounds like Nintendo wants to put the pressure on the top Publishers; this will be a continuing story. It does seem that the next generation consoles will all use DVD, Sega has said they will offer it later.

Liked AKLM's Fischbach comments in a friday DJ Wire story:

>>LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Open systems, on-line capability and the broadening appeal of computer games is making the delivery platform less important, and changing the way game publisher Acclaim Entertainment Inc. (AKLM) approaches its market, Acclaim's chairman and chief executive said.

Acclaim, which currently publishes titles for Nintendo 64 and Sony Corp.'s (SNE) Playstation formats, as well as for PCs, will develop titles this fall for Sega Enterprises Ltd.'s upcoming Dreamcast console as well.

For now, Acclaim will continue to prioritize between the platforms as market-share and contractual or licensing issues dictate, Acclaim Chairman and Chief Executive Gregory E. Fischbach told Dow Jones Newswires. But in a few years, when on-line delivery pipelines are fat enough to satisfy gamers' needs, customers won't care as much which platform they are playing on.

"Once we find a way fat enough to stream it to you, whether you use a Sony box to play it, or a Panasonic box, will be pretty much unimportant to you," Fischbach said.

This makes it much more important that game publishers create a strong brand awareneess, Fischbach said. "At the end of the day, you're not interested in a title you're interested in a franchise.<<
