Motely Fool present themselves so illogically, that I now understand how the named themselves.

I have followed Motley Fool for a number of years and they have some new people writing the columns who have very little understanding of technology. I noticed this shift last December in their Boring portfolio which changed managers.

The new writers have very little understanding of ANY technology!

Eric

P.S. For that reason I haven't followed them for at least the last six months!

Motly CSCO Fools...

Just musing: What business is MF actually engaged in? Is it investing, or is it selling advice? If it's investing, profitable holdings would be their primary focus. If it's selling advice, they must produce a unique product for sale. No use telling people to hold CSCO, one, if not the, best stocks to hold for the last decade. Better say remove CSCO from your portfolio, and remain on the edge of your chair awaiting the next word from us on what to add.

I believe I've provided an explanation of MF's sale consistent with the known facts.

Cheers, PW.

by its own logic, they should have sold Cisco back in October when it was down in the 60s because they didn't "understand" Cisco then. They would have missed out on the doubling of their investment. It's silly for them to sell now...

I've heard some convoluted logic but yours takes the cake. Bottom line is that Motley Fools believe todays price of CSCO shares has built in a lot of expectation which they are uncertain will come to pass. In October the problem was far less dramatic!

It makes perfect sense to me. CSCO is too pricey and not enough of a guarantee to hold on to at these levels....
