Brian, sell first, ask questions later seems to be the mantra of
many on the Street. I like to think that AMAT is storing energy during times like this. Climbing stairs can be exhausting.

Brian,

If the bond traders can react to a single datapoint (Friday's massive selloff on the CPI number after every other recent indicator showed no inflation), then why would you expect a rational reaction from the Street to AMAT's report, the book to bill, reality, etc.?

The last data point is ETEC; and of course, there's no difference between the equipment provider to the mask makers and the rest of the Semi Capital Equipment sector.

After all, isn't this a monolithic sector with all stocks nearly equal? <tic>

Seriously, if you believe that the street has overreacted sufficiently, look at this as a buying opportunity. ... and thank the brain dead for the gift.

FWIW,
Ian.

Surely you realize that a bit-player like AMAT can't stay up for long in the face of disappointing results from an industry giant like ETEC? <G>
