Rich any opinion on INTC's P III slippage to 7.8%

Wonder if the boxmakers see INTC as their future motherboard competition and are promoting Pentium alternatives ? :

PC DATA's report: >> " Meanwhile, Intel's Pentium III chip failed to make major inroads, accounting for only 7.8 percent of units sold. " <<

INTC cut P 3 prices this week but could it be more than a pricing issue ?

Thanks,
Jim K

I know what some of you are thinking!

Don't celebrate just yet. PC mags initially said the same about Pentium II before knuckling under and touting it as the best thing since Windows 3.1!

It'll be a few months before boxmakers can't get Pentium IIs and are forced to stock only Pentium IIIs. Then you will see the Pentium III as the #1 processor sold.

Use the force Luke. Stay focused. Do not let your emotions overcome you. That is the way of the dark side.
