ML latest bullish report on ORCL product win 5/20/99

Release: [PRNewswire, 14 May] Oracle announced more
than 100 mid-sized companies have gone live on
Oracle(R) Applications in less than six months.

Merrill Lynch: As reported in our previous Enterprise
Software News Weeklies, we expected Oracle's
FastForward(SM) family of Applications to be extremely
attractive to companies in the mid-market. The business
model of out-of-the-box functionality combined with fast
implementations is one being successfully executed by
another Applications vendor in our group, Great Plains
Software. We view this announcement as proof that Oracle
has been able to deliver on its promise of ERP
functionality and greatly reduced implementations.
However, in the overall scheme of things, though these
implementations are a solid proof of concept, they do not
currently constitute a significant earnings generator.

Release: [PRNewswire, 14 May] -- Drug Emporium and
Oracle Corporation today announced that Drug Emporium
has selected Oracle's e-business applications to expand
Drug Emporium's Internet business.

Merrill Lynch: Drug Emporium will integrate Oracle's
e-business application (Internet Commerce Server) with
Oracle Payment Server, Oracle Order Entry and Oracle
Inventory. We believe Drug Emporium is typical of the
customer Oracle's sales force will be targeting in the
coming months ( from its Applications installed base).
With such a large group to target, we expect Oracle to
quickly make an impact in the e-commerce space. It is the
leverage of Oracle's infrastructure products (database,
tools) combined with its productivity offerings
(Applications) that make it such a formidable competitor
in the new E-business market.
