FrozenZ, you and I IPO a company. Let's call it E-Scam (Nasdaq: ESCM). We price 10 million shares at 5, and collect $50 million. We proceed to throw that $50 million down the rathole. We don't have to pay the money back, because we sold equity to raise the cash. There is no debt, but ESCM's balance sheet will show an accumulated deficit of $50 million. Hope very simplified explanation helps.
