An acquisition that improves their DV infrustructure portfolio would be a good thing.
Tandberg is a bit pricey when compared to previous acquisitions.
But not out of the question.

Wegener would also be a good fit and is cheaper, I'm sure that there are other possibilities for Cube to acquire.
Perhaps we should open our eyes a bit.

Companies make good money on internet infrastructure (servers, databases, etc..), not just on the PCs that connect to them...

Old news: Tandberg in Sweden...

STJARN TV PLANS DIGITAL

The main cable operator in the Stockholm area of Sweden, Stjarn TV, is preparing for the launch of its own digital service in the New Year. Like Sweden's dominant operator, Telia Infomedia, Stjarn TV has adopted the France Telecom/Viaccess-based Eurobox standard for the implementation of the service, with most of the infrastructure supplied by Norway's Tandberg Television .

According to managing director Kjell Hellberg, Stjarn TV probably will launch initially in March "on a small scale", but the date for a full scale rollout may depend on the delayed digital terrestrial launch. "We are going to say that it will be close to the launch of DTT," he said. He said it was best to launch when digital was high in the public consciousness: "When we launch we want to be part of what's going on."

According to Hellberg, Stjarn will launch with fewer than 50 channels initially. "In a year we will have the capacity for 150," he said. The timetable depends in part on the upgrading of the network, taking fibre to the last node. Hellberg said services would probably be introduced in stages to areas comprising about 30,000 homes, and that work should be finished by the end of 1999.

As with Telia, boxes will be supplied via retail outlets, and Stjarn's service initially is expected to resemble the larger operator's closely, with a choice of 'big basic' and a la carte options available. The pricing of services has yet to be finalised. Like Telia, Stjarn is planning to offer Internet access via set tops to the TV as well as to the PC via a cable modem. Hellberg said that there were plans for more distinctive services later, but he declined to elaborate. Stjarn's network passes some 240,000 homes, with a penetration rate of about 56 per cent.
