I hope TDFX executives don't take your advice too explicitly.

Don't forget that feature sets don't entirely dictate sales success. Marketing has a lot to do with it, as well as lead time to market versus competitors - both areas where 3dfx has an advantage versus NVIDIA.

The V3-3500 with the tv tuner seems to indicate that TDFX realizes that more feature complete chipsets is the key to unlocking real volume sales. ATYT's ragepro showed that the key to market success is a feature complete chip with reasonable playable (back then) game performance. They were moving 1M chips/WEEK at the peak of RagePro's sales cycle -- that's how one should measure sales success.

Everyone seems to be copying this nowadays. If you get too fixed in a niche, eventually you run out of room for growth.

JMHO. :-)
