SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 21, 1999--The Vantive
Corporation (Nasdaq:VNTV) today announced that IBM Global Services has
become a Premier partner in the Vantive Industry Partner Program. Together,
IBM and Vantive will deliver e-business and e-customer relationship
management (eCRM) solutions.

In support of the partnership, IBM has formed a Vantive practice that delivers
systems integration consulting and services in support of Vantive software.

IBM's expanding Vantive practice quickly delivers the benefits of Vantive's
e-CRM software, enabling companies to profitably create competitive
advantage through strong and enduring customer relationships across the
organization and the Internet. The practice is already engaged at client sites
worldwide, including Rational Software.
