There is nothing recorded to show that there was any animosity between Ismael and Israel what so ever.

There are some contradictions in this part of the Bible that Muslims are fond of pointing out. It is said that Hagar carried baby Ismael to the desert. According to preceding passages he would have to be a teenager at the time. There are some others around Ismael but I don't want to get involved in a debate over them.
