That'd be neat! Especially if you could have multiple views so you could see several players at once. Come to think of it, I'd like to see my football that way!

In the more near term - ever been to a
Quake tournement? The atmosphere at the PGL events is electric. Now imagine being able to watch the top players in the world play these games via the net in spectator mode(s), with replays, with commentary, with stats - ala Fox NFL coverage but with many more options for the viewers.

I sure hope they would emulate FOX and not NBC: Can you imagine watching Quake but only getting the frag scores when they cut to commercial?

What does Ballard mean when calling TDFX an "entertainment company"?

Entertainment is content. Hardware is just the entertainment appliance. This is why I've belittled 3dfx for calling themselves an entertainment company. If 3dfx wants to call themselves an entertainment company they need to produce content. (And no, good developer support doesn't count, but it is a start.)

Nice idea, Chip.

I am sure that's what will become true in the future. But I think
game-developers will take most profit of that "online-gaming"-business and not chip-makers. Is TDFX developing anything special for such "tournements"? - I don't think so.

Thanks

Peter
