You definitely get the feeling that fiscal year 01 looks good to them. Best to be conservative on estimates:

underestimate ... overdeliver.

Ski,
I was most impressed by the Lucent SLC 2000 business model. The way Mark presented it, it sound like a killer product for SLC switches. Second most impressed by Zionts assertion that they know how to make a damn good modem. It seems it was a good strategy to stop competing with the likes of Alcatel, Nortel, Cisco on ADSL in the central office. The forward pricing was a killer. The number of units sold was up 73% but they made less money. Might as well open a soup kitchen.

Who ever expected CPI would do so well. Sounds like its growing by leaps and bounds. My only disappointment was that Mark specifically said they have no product with the TXN chip, though the relationship remains. I wish I know what was up. One minute there seems to be some great product coming out, next its zippo.

All the best,
Michael

Ski any Q&A determine if the rebates were to figure in the lower margin for the last qtr on ADSL or the lower sales based upon higher unit volume?

I am guessing at the financial booking of the rebate, but isn't it booked as a reduced sale price rather than a sale with a higher operating expense?

The difference is very large for the interpretation of the 73% increase of unit sales vs 0% cost increase!

Any questions on the LU expectation for the business plan in '00?

The portal in '01?

I like MZ's conservatism, by stating '01. I think I said that he would not mess up the golden opportunity to work the analysts this time.
It didn't hurt that they technically beat the street.

[re: 01 profit]

2 CC's ago, he said calender 2000 would be profitable. Keeps moving back. I will listen to CC tonight to get some impressions.
