Fred,

Sounds interesting. This takes the timing factor out of everything and really
turns things into a long term buy-hold approach. I'm currently raising cash
levels so I'd prefer to wait for better prices on many of these, but here goes:

ticker %dist $ amount
APOL 9% 27,000
CHB 8% 24,000
FIC 8% 24,000
TECH 8% 24,000
DSWL 8% 24,000
RAL 4% 12,000
HMA 4% 12,000
CDWC 5% 15,000
APCC 7% 21,000
CATP 7% 21,000
ITWO 7% 21,000
SEBL 7% 21,000
CKFR 7% 21,000
DSTM 7% 21,000
DCTM 4% 12,000
====== === =======
15 stocks $ 300,000

I may see if I can set up such a test portfolio in MS Money.

Shane

OK Fred, you're on. Hmm, $300,000.

Give me this:
$40,000 of Clayton Homes, CMH
$60,000 of Berkshire Hathaway, BRK
$25,000 of Mattel, MAT
$25,000 of Ambac, ABK
$150,000 cash. Yes, that's right. Good old fashioned under the mattress cash. Don't even worry about calculating the interest. Just make sure Mr. Market doesn't run off with it.

200K VFINX (Vanguard S&P 500 index)
20K FDX
20K EMC
20K BA
20K RAL
20K NOK

You might set these up in MY.YAHOO portfolios. You can enter the number of shares & prices paid. NASDAQ, NYSE, AMEX, it doesn't care. The only maintenance you'll have to do is to adjust for splits.

Thanks.

Dan
