It will change the face of trading/investing - once it goes to true 24 hours, with full volume - that's the end of morning gap up/downs, end of day selloff/buy frenzy; it will be immensely news driven, far more than now - the premium will be on up to the nanosecond news, any small edge in time will represent an advantage, as runups, and selloffs will now happen on the news (no more stuff released "after the market closes.

I don't think so about the news part, because a company's stock will just be halted for a couple of hours "pending news." This is often done now for major news during market hours. I also think that the time of the earnings release would probably be somewhat standardized, some in the morning and some in the evening as it is now.

What I'd fear is manipulation of lesser-liquidity stocks during the off hours. If you believe that Market Makers run stops and manipulate prices now, just wait!
