Now you're hitting below the belt. But really, you have to admit the prospects for the long side look less rosy. I don't know whether you focus on stock price, or business fundamentals. From stock price view, amzn looks awful. it seems poised to test the low 120's tomorrow.

But regarding the business. As I understand the plan, amzn would capture a dominant position, at a cost of billions in losses. Anyone else aspiring to compete knows it will cost billions, so they will give up before starting. Then Amazon will be able to set profitable prices that are still low enough to discourage competition. They will insure that no one can undercut them at a profit by being super efficient and building the best infrastructure. The essence of simplicity.

All that is fine. So far it has cost under 500 million to implement the plan. Why value them at 20, 30, or 40 billion for a 0.5 billion expense ?

William,

You have yet to realize that the stock price of AMZN has no correlation to fundamentals. Particularly in the past.

You expected them to be profitable in Q4 of this year. Let's see how really good you are:-)
