I said that dictators,, not necessarily Saddam--- and gave 2 reasons--- he may fall into the second---getting too big for his britches---nonetheless the US supported or at least helped him to stay in power,,... Apparently he even blasted an American ship , killing several US servicemen.. For this he barely recieved a slap on the wrist.. Of course this was before they decided to turn on him, most likely for the fact that he was capable of perhaps uniting a lot of Arabs and making one large headache for the west... That is when he was demonized and suddenly was a nasty dictator that had to be purged from the scene....
