Geac Launches Fusion Mark 8 Point of Sale Systems May 24, 1999 NASHUA, NEW HAMPSHIRE--Geac Restaurant Systems today launched the new Fusion Mark 8 Point of Sale (POS) system for the Quick Service industry. The Fusion Mark 8 was selected for Burger King's 'New Image Restaurant' project showcased in conjunction with the Burger King National Franchise Association Convention held in Reno, Nevada in April 1999. The system was successfully beta tested in half a dozen Burger King restaurants and was proven to be a fast and fully reliable system. John Reckert, Vice President World Wide Strategic Operations, Research & Development of Burger King Corporation, commented on their experience with the Fusion Mark 8: "Burger King Research and Development department is very impressed with the ability of Geac to deliver the Fusion Mark 8 system in our Restaurant of the Future. The ability and dedication of the Geac team that did the development work and support of the system after the opening, exceeded our expectations. Not only did they provide the Point of Sale structure we asked for to support the new kitchen, they contributed many new ideas and improvements over our previous testing efforts. The support of the new system and assistance in employee training after the restaurant opening has been tremendous." The Fusion Mark 8 is a state-of-the-art system featuring advanced technologies coupled with industry standard peripherals. It is simple to use, extremely reliable, and easily maintained. The software is feature rich and proven. Its design, connectivity and options make system expansion easy and affordable. Also offered is the optional Active WorkStation for Windows. The Active WorkStation links the latest PC technologies to the mission critical Fusion Mark 8 POS system. "Geac designed the new Fusion Mark 8 system in response to the increasing market demands of today's Quick Service industry. The total cost of ownership will be thousands of dollars less than our competitors' products over the life span of the system. The POS terminals, which are designated as clients within the system, have no moving parts, and are "hot connectable". This means they can be easily swapped, and are automatically configured by the server while the system is operating," said Larry Bruder, Geac's Quick Service Product Manager. Monty Riffer, General Manager of the Restaurant Division added, "By listening to and learning from our customers, we have been able to develop new products for the industry that have exceeded their expectations. Geac owes its leadership position in large part to its ability to respond to and anticipate its customers needs. The Fusion Mark 8 is the latest addition to our world renowned product line. We offer powerful solutions built on a highly advanced system architecture that is afford-able, durable and easy to understand. The Fusion Mark 8 is our next generation POS solution ideal for any quick service operation."
