Howard, Chase could cause a problem. But the govt. has bailed out Bank of America and Citicorp when they were the largest banks, so Chase alone may not cause a total panic.

The problem with having derivatives, even the right derivatives, is the credit on the other side. It is one of the reasons I won't bet with BGR, who has challenged me for a dollar. If he is right, my discipline will allow me to send the dollar in a letter. If I am right, he won't have the money, much less a stamp. <g> Same with Chase. If they are right and The Bank of Leyte Gulf is wrong, the loser may simply not have the dough to pay up. Especially if they made the same bet with several other banks.
