Steve: You did give a very closely reasoned response. That was an excellent post on how to play options.....puts and calls(writing, that is). But I agree that this year (and probably next also) will
be more difficult. In fact I'm getting a little worried about my
'00 and '01 leaps. I'm well in the money now, but the premium that
I paid to buy in-the-money calls is eroding as we speak. I hope the split will give us a 10 to 15% boost in stock price at least by September. If so, I'm gone, and will use the proceeds to buy the stock. I believe EMC is now mature company, and a good stock for the long haul, but no more leaps for me. I'm not bitter however; this company has made me an awfully good return in the past few years.
Good trading to all,
Jack Gibson

SJS,

i DO appreciate your posts. i'm just seeking a number of various opinions. i don't want to be totally unindated with opinions. too many would create confusion. i just enjoy seeing people's different investing strategies. since all of my $$$ in my broker account is in an IRA, covered calls are my only option.

once again, thank you for your input. it IS greatly appreciated.
